Checking Assignments:
I believe instant feedback is vital to learning. Therefore, we will check a number of assignments in class. It is important to pay close attention at this time so that you might grasp the information more deeply. If after turning in an assignment I see that you have not graded correctly for whatever reason, you will receive a grade of zero for that assignment.
Late Work Policy:
The 8th grade team does not accept unexcused late work. Anytime a student does not turn in an assignment at the time it is being collected, he or she will receive a zero for that assignment. Additionally, I will add a comment in Power School noting the reason for the zero. Parents will be contacted if a student continually does not complete their work.
Remediation:
Students earning a grade of 64% or lower on tests have the option to remediate. The highest percentage a student can receive when remediating is a 66%. It is the student’s responsibility to see me for instructions on how to remediate a given assignment. The student will have one week to remediate the test and turn it back in to me.
Make Up Work:
If a student is absent he or she has one day per day they were absent to make up an assignment. Parents may request to pick up assignments in the office when calling in your absence. The homework hotline will also keep you informed as to what has been assigned each day. All homework for the week is listed on the board, and corresponding worksheets will be located in the hanging file by the entrance of the room. Don’t forget to turn in assignments to the tray. I will not ask you for them.
Homework Passes:
I do not give out homework passes; however, at the end of each quarter, the lowest HOMEWORK grade will be dropped.
Communication:
I believe a strong link between school and home is the greatest attribute of a student’s success, so please, do not hesitate to contact when needed.
I am pleased to be working with each of you, and I look forward to successful and rewarding school year!
